The Nationwide Tax Roadshow crossed to Cebu on October 17 and 18, led by the Philippine Tax Whiz Mon Abrea. The two-day roadshow was held on venues all over the Queen City of the South.
The first event of the roadshow was an Executive Tax Briefing for the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry. During the event, the attendees learned how to properly prepare for BIR Audit and avoid unnecessary fines and penalties. The Philippine Tax Whiz also presented a brief summary of the ongoing tax reform.
The Executive Tax Briefing was followed by a tax seminar for the UP Cebu-DTI Negosyo Center. The owners of various micro, small, and medium enterprises attended the second event.
The Philippine Tax Whiz provided insights on how business owners can take advantage of the ongoing tax reform. Also discussed were the most common BIR violations to avoid, BIR forms and deadlines, and doing business as a microenterprise.
Before the day concluded, the tax expert also attended an interview with Eagle News Cebu, covering the topic of the ongoing tax reform’s actual impact.
For the second day of the Nationwide Tax Roadshow, the Founding President of the Asian Consulting Group attended the Philippine-American Fund Grantee Sustainability Summit. Acting both as a moderator and a speaker, the tax advocate presented the impact of the ongoing tax reform to non-governmental organizations. The Gerry Roxas Foundation organized the event.
ABS-CBN Cebu interviewed Abrea, a prominent tax advocate, on the highly-relevant issue of inflation. He called for the suspension of the excise tax on fuel imposed by TRAIN Law. The recent suspension, the tax expert noted, only covered the next scheduled increase.
The Nationwide Tax Roadshow will come next to the province of Albay on October 20 to 22.
As the Tax Hub for SMEs in the Asia-Pacific, ACG conducts regular seminars and tax coaching sessions during its Open House. Both cover topics that allow taxpayers to save more on taxes, but the tax coaching allows a more interactive discussion.
